o is for opportunist

A Borrowdale lad, Peter Crosthwaite foresaw that Keswick's future lay in the mass tourist trade.  After a commission in the East India Company he returned to the shores of Derwentwater with big plans to enthral and exploit the growing influx of Victorian visitors.  Chief among these were his cabinet of curiosities - an ideal attraction for a rainy day - and, for when the sun shone, his beautifully detailed Accurate Maps of the Principal English Lakes.

Peter will be showing off his Gimcracks and Nicknackatories in Penrith this summer.
